Photograph of Miles Canyon.
Inscription verso: 37 The famous Miles Canyon. 3/4 mile long. Showing the upper end. In the distance is the centre of which forms a treacherous whirlpool. The water rushes with such force between the narrow walls, that is, to keep the boat if possible along the crest, & away from the side walls. It occupies the space of 35 seconds to successfully shoot the canyon. About 30 of which are most exhilarating. We came through here at the above gait, quite safely in the fall of '97. The undersigned at the helm. A.O.W.
