Photograph of dredge.

Mrs. Win Herbert wrote the inscription, her husband, Bert, worked for the Bonanza Gold Dredging Company - owners of the dredge. This was an Allis-Chalmers with 6.5 cubic-foot buckets, the only dredge the company owned. The machine, first started up in May, 1906, worked on ground near the mouth of the Klondike River until the 1909 season.

Inscription verso: Bonanza dredge when still frozen in soon after we arrived here - Self & a dog (which chummed up with us on our walk that day) in the foreground.
