A note attached reads: George Apple's loaded scow at Whitehorse, Yukon Territory on its way to Dawson City, the scene of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1898. Mr. Apple was a pioneer in many camps, conducting sheet metal works at Juneau 1896-7; Dawson, Yukon Ter. 1897-1904; Fairbanks - 1904-1907 - Nome 1907-'11 - Iditerod 1911 - Ruby 1911-1918. George Apple was born in 1861 - and died at Covina California in December, 1952."
